BlackBerry Smart Card Reader Security Device
The BlackBerry Smart Card Reader is a lightweight, wearable smart card reader that enables controlled access to BlackBerry devices using Bluetooth technology and advanced AES-256 encryption. The BlackBerry Smart Card Reader is built with both IT and mobile users in mind. This Smart Card Reader Security Device can prevent unathorized people from using your BlackBerry and accessing secure information. Many organizations use Smart Cards for secure access to computers, areas, information etc.. This Smart Card Reader incorporates that concept and applies it to the BlackBerry. You can set the BlackBerry to only work when the Smart Card is in close proximity. This is communicated to the device via Bluetooth wireless technology. As soon as the Smart Card is out of range, the device will lock up and be unusable. Once you are back within range, you must type in a password to access the BlackBerry. This "two-factor authentication" provides outstanding controls for organizations with security concerns.

- Out of the box support for Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards, Common Access Cards (CAC) and Safenet 330 cards
- 3V and 5V smart cards
- Third parties are able to implement support for any card using the published BlackBerry Smart Card APIs
