Samsung Unveils Galaxy S5 - Will it Meet the Hype?

Posted on Feb 24th 2014

Samsung unveiled the latest generation of its flasgship phone, the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week. The new model will sport an updated camera, bigger screen, vibrant new color options and it will be water and dust resistant.

Following the lead of Apple’s iPhone 5S, the Galaxy S5 will also incorporate a fingerprint scanner for quickly making mobile payments. On the back of the phone, Samsung built in a heart rate sensor to integrate with health and fitness tracking apps.

Other notable features include a new Download Booster function, which combines both WiFi and LTE to quickly download data like photos and videos – theoretically at a rate of up to 600-650 mbps. A battery saving setting is also built-in to the GS5 which, when activated, shuts off all nonessential activities so you can stretch out your remaining battery life for as long as possible. Samsung claims this feature can stretch a 90 percent depleted battery over 24 hours.

The Galaxy S5 will be available through all major carriers on April 11. Be sure to check back with us in the coming weeks to preorder your accessories!
