Jabra Style Review: Bluetooth Wireless Headset

Why We Love It: With a matte black and brushed steel design, this is one attractive headset. Good thing, too, because a headset named Style can’t afford to be boring. The headset is also lightweight and has great sound quality.
Comfort/Design: The Jabra Style Bluetooth headset is stabilized with an over-the-ear hook and rests on the ear, which is a relief from the abundance of in-ear headsets available. The over-the-ear hook is adjustable so users can place the headset on either ear or change the height of the hook to match the size of their ears.
Features: One thing we noticed right away is that the volume button on the headset is missing. This is because of the headset’s coolest feature: automatic volume adjustment. The headset is intuitive, picking up noise signals from the environment that indicate whether the volume should be louder or softer. This could prove to be problematic if this function fails to pick up a lot of background noise, but in our testing the adjustment worked quite well and there was no need to manually adjust the volume as me moved in between noisy and quiet environments.
Ease of Use: There are just two functions on this headset: the on/off switch and the Call button. The Call button is located at the top of the headset. This is an oddity, as most headsets have a call button on that requires users to push the headset toward the ear to use the Call functions. We found ourselves liking the top-side button, however, as long as we stabilized the headset with our thumb before pressing the Call button. This placement certainly streamlines the appearance of the headset.
Sound Quality: We found the sound quality on both ends of our test calls to be excellent. The receiver noticed some occasional muffling, but never enough to interrupt the flow of normal conversation, whether the headset user was standing next to a busy street or sitting alone in a quiet conference room. The user was also pleased with the sound, as the speaker sound came through sounding crisp and sharp.
Overall: The CAFL Web Team has no reservations about recommending this headset, as its sound quality, overall appearance, and handy volume function raise the bar for mid-range headsets.
