International CES 2013 Product Predictions

Posted on Jan 3rd 2013

The 2013 International CES will kick off in Las Vegas on Monday, Jan. 7. CES is the largest consumer electronics conference in the world, and this year will feature more than 20,000 products on display from 3,000 manufacturers in 150 countries. Our product team will be involved in finding the best new products launched at CES so we can offer you the highest-quality accessories on the market in 2013! Here are some of our predictions for the top tech trends at CES.

iPhone 5 / Lightning Accessories

This year, the iLounge Pavilion, the exhibition area dedicated exclusively to iPhone, iPad, and Mac accessories, will be the largest ever since its launch in 2010 to CES. More than 500 manufacturers and vendors will occupy 120,000 square feet of space full of new products for Apple mobile devices. Following the release of the iPhone 5 and iPad mini with the new Lightning charging/sync connector, we expect to see some of the first Lightning-compatible charging and docking accessories on the market.

Tablets: Cheaper, Faster, More Pixels

2012’s top selling tablets like the $199 Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire sent a message to manufacturers that they can no longer release underpowered, overpriced tablets and expect to sell them. Competition is driving prices lower, and many analysts are predicting that consumers will be able to get their hands on top-notch tablets for relatively affordable prices. Full HD screen resolution is expected to be a standard feature in 2013’s tablets, as we’ve seen with the Nexus 10 and iPad 4. Many industry experts also expect to see a more powerful processor debut at CES that can keep pace with Apple’s A6X in the iPad 4.

Health & Fitness Products

Following the 2012 introduction of wearable fitness accessories that interact with mobile phones, health and fitness technology is expected to be a big trend at CES this year. Products previewed for CES 2013 include devices that track a user’s activity level, heart rate and more and present the information in a dedicated smartphone app.

The Cloud for Business Users

Cloud-based computing and services are expected to see major developments at CES this year. Possible developments include interactive digital signage platforms featuring cloud-based services for public venues and retail shopping, service vehicles equipped with broadband technologies and cloud-based applications connecting mobile workers, and health and wellness cloud-based services that bridge the gap between consumer-personalized health programs and professional, secure telehealth services.
