Apple October Event Recap

Posted on Oct 30th 2020

The Apple Event was an exciting day for us at CAFL. We have all been waiting for months to hear about the latest and greatest Apple technology, especially the new iPhones.

Official Apple Cases Confirm New 'iPhone 12 Mini' Smartphone

In case you missed it, here are some highlights:

HomePod Mini ($99) offers a new smart home (or office) experience, with 360-degree sound with strong speakers, while maintaining a sleek, compact design.

iPhone 12 ($799) boasts a ceramic shield for improved toughness, 4x better drop protection, an updated dual lens camera system, and Night Mode for clearer, brighter photographs taken in low light. Click here to shop accessories.

iPhone 12 mini ($699) is a great budget option with very similar features to the 12. Unlike any of the other 12 models, the mini has brought back the fingerprint sensor, which is pretty handy at a time when face masks render Face ID useless. A lighter model than the iPhone 8 or SE, the 12 mini has a larger screen, at 5.4 inches. Besides the traditional black and white, the mini comes in fun colors such as Product (RED), green, and blue. And the moment we’ve all been waiting for… iPhone 12 Pro ($999) and iPhone 12 Pro Max. These sleek models showcase their stainless steel frame (as opposed to aluminum for the 12 and 12 mini) as well as 6.1” and 6.7” Super Retina XDR displays. The upgraded triple lens camera system has an built in ultra wide, wide and telephoto lens, with the ability to provide improved autofocus (6x faster than the 11 Pro Max) and more realistic AR capabilities. iPhone 12 Pro cases are cross-compatible with the 12, so you can view your options here. For the iPhone 12 Pro Max, we have a plethora of accessories available here.

Lastly, Apple introduced its MagSafe technology, which allows their wireless charger to magnetically connect to the 12 series iPhones. In addition to providing a 15W wireless charger, the MagSafe series opens up a new line of accessories for the iPhone. MagSafe cases snap into place, and Apple also showcased a MagSafe wallet that sticks right onto your phone. We expect to see more MagSafe accessories released in the future. It’s important to note that while the MagSafe charger can charge any wireless charging enabled phones (including Android), the magnetic function only works with the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro lines. You can view our MagSafe selection here.

In efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, new phone boxes will not be including a power adapter or headphones. They will, however, be including a USB-C to Lightning cable, so if you don’t have a USB-C power adapter, you’re going to want to pick one up here.
