How do I return/exchange an item and what is your return/exchange policy?

Answer:
Our goal with returns is simple: to efficiently address your return or exchange. The following represents the policy and procedures for product returns to Cellular Accessories For Less.
  • CAFL requires a Return Authorization for exchange or credit for a period of 30 days from original ship date for product(s) that are defective or unnecessary. Beyond 30 days from shipping, we will honor most manufacturers' 1-year factory warranty. All components (instruction booklets, cables, etc.) of original order MUST be returned for credit. Products and packaging should be free of blemishes, visible marks or damage. Please note that software cannot be returned once it has been opened. Please be sure to include a copy of your invoice or packing slip whenever shipping anything to CAFL.
  • Customers shall pay freight for any return packages for repair or exchange. A credit for the in-bound shipping will be applied to your account when applicable. If a product is being returned after the 30-day period, the customer is responsible for all shipping charges. Products erroneously shipped by CAFL may be returned with no shipping fees incurred.
  • A request for a Return Authorization (RA) number must be made through CAFL.
  • A restocking fee of 25% will be applied for items returned beyond the 30 day (up to 60 days maximum). There are no returns after 60 days.
  • The RA number provided by CAFL must be provided within and outside the container.
  • Please contact CAFL with any questions or concerns regarding your return and/or exchange. We will attempt to make arrangements for your unique needs.
  • As a service to our customers, we act as a warranty center for many major manufacturers. We can assist you in getting manufacturers' warranty and repair assistance when needed.
  • Cellular Phone Returns & Repairs: Defective phones will be replaced within 30 days of sale or if there are less than 30 lifetime minutes on the phone, whichever comes first. Damaged phones will be sent for repair, where fees may incur. Phones are subject to manufacturers warranty.
  • We appreciate your understanding that with Special Orders (products we do not normally stock and have to order specifically for that order), all sales are final.
Terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.

There are several ways to determine the type of phone model you own:
  • LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE PHONE - Remove the battery from the back of your phone. The phone model number and manufacturer - Nokia, Ericsson, etc. - should be displayed on the back of the phone.

  • FIND THE PHONE BY ACCESSORY - If you cannot find your model type on the back of the phone, you can go to Find Accessories and enter the original manufacturer's part number off the back of your battery or any other accessory you have. A description of compatible phone models and accessories will be displayed. One of these phone models may be your phone.

  • FIND PHONE BY PICTURE - Choose the manufacturer of your phone on the left column. Underneath the pull-down menu click on the option to view all phones by picture.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #12:
What products can I buy that will protect my phone from every day wear and tear?

Answer:
You can protect your phone with two different types of cases:
  • Fitted Case: (aka working case) which allows easy access to the keypad and ports while using the phone.
  • Pouch Case: which provides protection for your phone with complete coverage. The phone must be removed from this pouch to use it.
You can choose either a standard stationary belt clip or a detachable swivel clip for either option.

Cases are usually made of leather, but they can also be nylon, hydrofoam, neoprene and various other materials.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #13:
What are the options for carrying my phone on my belt or purse?

Answer:
There are many options for carrying your phone on a belt or purse strap.

Cases:
Most cases come with either a stationary or swivel belt clip. The stationary clips are built into the case and generally made of the same material. Swivel clips are plastic and can be detached from the case. Some people find swivel clips to be more comfortable and convenient.

Plastic Holsters:
Plastic holsters are a great option for people who prefer to use their phone without a case. The phone easily slides into the form-fitted holster and is securely held in place. These typically include a stationary or non-detachable swivel belt clip.

Plastic Belt Clips:
Some phone models offer plastic belt clips that are specifically designed to attach to the phone. If a specialized clip is not available, you can use the Universal Swivel Belt Clip that attaches to the back of any phone with strong adhesive tape.

How do I transfer information/numbers/data from one phone to a computer, PDA or another phone?

Some phones allow you to transfer data via Bluetooth wireless technology or infrared parts. If you have any confusion on this topic, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #15:
How can I use my phone as a modem?

Answer:
Many phones are capable of acting as an external dial-out modem by using a data cable, software, bluetooth or infrared. For more information on this please contact us.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #16:
How do I determine what technology platform my phone uses?

Answer:
Listed below are various cellular service providers. Each provider uses different technologies that are compatible with the phones they sell. For example, if you have a Nokia 3360, it is a TDMA phone and is only sold by TDMA cellular carriers (i.e. AT&T Wireless)

To use this information, look for your cellular service provider and match it with the correct technology [e.g. Cingular (cellular carrier) à GSM/Smartchip (technology)]

GSM/Smartchip
Providers: Cingular, T-Mobile (VoiceStream), AT&T

TDMA
Providers: AT&T, Cingular, US Cellular

CDMA
Providers: Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint

PCS
Providers: Sprint PCS, Verizon

Analog/AMPS
Providers: All dual-mode (Digital/Analog) service providers and all providers that do not operate with exclusively digital service (e.g. GSM and PCS).

Note: All service providers may not be listed here.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #17:
What are the differences between battery technologies?

Answer:
There are 4 popular types of batteries available for cellular phones.
  • Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries have a great shelf life (hold a charge), a solid construction and can also be recycled. These batteries have "memory" - if they aren't depleted totally, they will only recharge the amount that was depleted.
  • Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries have between 20-40% more talk time than a NiCd battery. They provide extended talk time in a lighter weight battery and are available at a reasonable cost.
  • Lithium Ion (Li Ion) batteries are thin and lightweight and have the longest talk and stand-by times compared to the NiCd and NiMH batteries. Li Ion batteries incorporate the most advanced technology among the 4 battery types.
  • Lithium Polymer batteries are similar to Li Ion batteries but are lighter in weight.
*Battery life span average is 1-3 years

Go To Top of PageQuestion #18:
What are the different ways to charge my phone's battery?

Answer:
There are several ways to charge your phone's batteries:
  • Standard A/C Charger (Overnight Charger): This is the standard charger that is included with most phones. It plugs into your phone and into a wall outlet. This charge can take anywhere between 2.5 and 14 hours, depending on battery technology and size. These are also used as the power source for some desktop chargers.

  • Rapid A/C Charger: This charger is similar to that of the standard charger, except much quicker. A full charge is usually twice as fast as the standard A/C charger - between 45 minutes and 3 hours depending on battery technology and size.

  • Cigarette Lighter Charger (In-car-charger, Vehicle Power Adapter or Cigarette Lighter Adapter): This charger is used in your vehicle while you are in your vehicle. It rapidly charges your battery using your cigarette lighter port as a power source. Charge times vary between 45 minutes and 3 hours.

  • Desktop Chargers: DTC provide a convenient place to charge and support your phone on your desk. Some allow you to charge multiple batteries simultaneously. Charging times will vary depending on the type of battery and A/C adapter. Some desktop chargers include an A/C power supply, but most operate with the standard or rapid A/C charger that comes with your phone.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #19:
What is the difference between a battery's talk time and stand by time?

Answer:
Talk time (TT) refers to the amount of time available when you are actually using your phone. Stand-by time (ST) refers to the time when your phone is turned on but not in use.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #20:
Does my battery lose its charge when it's not in use?

Answer:
When your battery is not in use, it will slowly lose its charge about 2% a day, depending on the technology. Li Ion and NiCad batteries typically carry the longest shelf life.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #21:
Why do battery times vary so much?

Answer:
Many factors affect battery talk and stand-by times. Service providers have the capability to select different time interval settings for their system to communicate to your cellular phone. This can take some of the charge out of your battery. Analog phone users may experience less stand-by and talk time. Digital systems are more efficient and often have a "sleep mode" which allows your batteries to last longer while in stand-by mode. If your phone has a retractable antenna, having it fully extended helps to use less power. If you are in a poor coverage area, your phone and its battery are working harder to receive a signal than normal, thus creating a greater drain on you battery. In addition vibrating and wireless web features create a greater drain on the battery, decreasing talk and stand-by times. GSM phones will generally have a longer battery life.

Answer:
Most batteries will last 1-3 years.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #23:
Explain the difference between a complete hands free kit, a portable hands free kit and a headset

Answer:
Headsets are the most popular way to use your phone hands-free. There are three different styles to choose from: 1) a small ear bud that fits into your ear with a microphone on the cord, 2) an earpiece that fits over your ear with a boom microphone, or 3) an over-the-head headset with a boom microphone.

Car kits are either portable or installed.

Portable: The single unit hands-free kit includes the speaker and microphone. It plugs into your vehicle's cigarette lighter port. Not only will you have hands-free talking, but your phone will also be charging. These kits are easily transferable from car to car.

Installed: Complete hands-free kits require professional installation into your car. These kits include a phone cradle, speaker, external microphone and all necessary wiring. The kit is connected to an external antenna (sold separately), which provides enhanced reception. Some kits have the option for a privacy handset.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #24:
If I order a car kit do I need any additional parts?

Answer:
You will need to order a mount and an antenna. The mount attaches the phone holder to a convenient location in your vehicle. The antenna is placed on the outside of the car and provides enhanced reception. You will be prompted to order both during the checkout phase of your online transaction. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.

Go To Top of PageQuestion #25:
Do you install car kits?

Answer:
We can arrange an installation in the greater Los Angeles area for approximately $90.
